The other day I was doing a bit of arbitrage which involved driving traffic I bought with Adwords onto a landing page selling a particular product. This can be quite tricky but if you get your maths + niche right, you can make some nice cash. So I targeted a bunch of related sites running Adsense. Paid for a bunch of clicks and sold a few products. I have made a little profit so I was happy. Now why would not the websites I advertised on cut out the middle man (Google) and sell the products themselves, directly?
Have you ever thought about this? Why do people advertise with Adwords? Why do they pay you 50c for every click? Or even $5/click! (Considering that Google also keep certain % of the money) How can they afford to do this? Its quite simple really. They are able to generate more money from that visitor than 50c. These companies either sell their own service/product or simply do what I do and redirect people to their affiliates page. So why would you want to your incredibly profitable visitor to go somewhere else for a few cents even though you could have converted them yourself?
Have a look at your Adsense ads. (Don’t click on them. Manually enter the urls) What are these companies selling? Try and see if you can sell their product/service directly to your visitors via an affiliate program. I myself need to sit down and come up with something for this blog when I get a bit of time off from my main projects.

Don’t worry, you are not the only one. In fact most active Internet users would use the same password more than once. Its just there are so many different website you register with, it can become difficult trying to remember all your passwords.
Little did you know, this also means you are incredibly vulnerable to various hacking attacks. Even if you have the strongest password in the world along the lines of: P4sSw0orD771bQ/
Lets imagine you are one of these people using the same password every time you register a new account. If I was to steal that password from you I would simply have to find out something you might be interested in. Lets say Football. What I do then is create a dummy website about football. When the website is ready I will drop you an email. This is where a bit of social engineering takes place. I would say something along the lines of: “Hey -your name-, I heard that www.dummyfootballsite.com gives away free tickets to world cup final bla bla bla. You should quickly sign up and grab one before its too late”
That person then goes and registers. I now have his password… to every single place he registered with. All I need now is to get into his main email account and get my hands on all sorts of usernames, pin number, accounts and transactions.
Don’t become a victim. You should now go and make sure you change all your important passwords to something unique.
One thing I find very annoying are fixed size windows not designed for firefox. I would spend 5 minutes filling in some long form just to find out that submit button sank bellow the frame and I can’t resize the window. To fix this problem you can tap in about:config into your firefox address bar and hit enter to open a very secret configuration menu.
Type “resize” into filter and you should end up with “dom.disable_window_move_resize”. Double click the value so that it says “false”. You should now be able to resize any window.
Sometimes I need to limit the amount of RAM firefox eats. Filter “capacity” so that you end up with “browser.cache.memory.capacity”. Then change the value to something a bit smaller. I usually halve my value until I am happy with performance.
Have you ever closed a tab by an accident and lost all your work? You can restore your session when your browser crashed but not when you close it by an accident. You will never lose your work again. Simply filter “startup” and change the value of “browser.startup.page” to 3. Next time you start firefox, instead of going to your homepage it will automatically restore the last page you were viewing as well as the data contained on that page. Obviously be careful with this one. If you were looking at something naughty you might not want your kids to accidental restore that page.

Have a look at “About me” in the header. Can you see anything different? That’s right! It no longer says I am 21 I will be turning 22 in 7 hours time. Little did I know, my friends have prepared a surprise for me. I was given a day to pack my bags and grab my passport before they kidnap me and take me to some unknown location. This is going to be crazy! I would therefore like to apologize in advance about the blog competition. I have already picked the winners but it might take me a few days to recover from my birthday, chase everyone down, give out the prizes and make a blog post.
My new social seo project is almost ready. Its the matter of designing a quality theme, which should be done some time next week.
Top commentators plugin has been disabled due to wide spread abuse. I don’t mind sharing some link love but some people just took this too far. As a compensation the seo project I mentioned above should provide you with plenty of backlinks when it is finished.
I have also been granted access to Woopra which is ever so amusing. I can now see what people actually do on this blog, where they come from and I can even chat to them by popping a chat window. I will probably go into more detail some time soon.
