Should I experiment with online money lending?
Lets face it. P2P lending is on the rise and will change the way we borrow and lend money. More and more people decide to avoid banks and borrow money directly from other people. As a result they can expect to get much more favorable interest rates. Two major players I am aware of are Zopa (Ironically translates “Ass” from Russian) and Prosper.
If everything goes well I should have my first chunk of money ready for long term investment at the end of the month. This morning I had an idea to give it a try and lend this money P2P style. If you think about it the risks are minimal because often the borrowed sum of money consists of smaller chunks provided by multiple lenders. In other words if someone wanted to borrow $1000 they can in theory get $100 from 10 lenders. Therefore I can lend smaller amounts of money to multiple people. On the other hand there are other, tested areas for my investment. Yet I love experimenting…
