My way of generating revenue with BANS (Build a niche store)
A few people have asked me about my experience with BANS (Build a niche store) the other day so I thought the rest of the readers might also find this interesting.
BANS is pretty much everything you need in order to set up your own niche website, assuming that you already have hosting and $8 for a domain name. This neat little script is designed around Ebay partnership network (EPN) and comes ready for pretty much any advertising CPC/Affiliate network you are with.
Once you have installed BANS you pretty much just pick an Ebay category (Or your niche) from the list, fill in all the details eg Title, meta tags, Clickbank ID etc and you are ready to go. This really does take minutes to set up.
I know some people spend hours every day promoting their BANS sites but I simply did not have all this time so I went for a lazy approach. Here is what I did:
1) Picked 21 low competition niches.
2) Created 20 additional subdomain (Or subfolders) for these niches.
3) Installed 21 BANS sites on one domain and set them up.
4) Bookmarked each one of these sites using Bookmarking daemon
5) Threw a few additional backlinks at these websites from related resources.
That’s it! When the sites were indexed they started generating me around 40 organic visitors/day each, all coming from search engines. Because BANS updates itself all I had to do in the last 2 months is pretty much sit there and check my revenue. Next time I had more time, I would simply repeat 5 steps above with a new domain.
PS: 40 daily uniques might not seem like much but if you multiply it by 21 and take into account high CTR (Click through rate) you are looking at $20/day passive income depending on your niche.
PPS: There was something else I was going to say but I have completely forgotten what it was (I have only had 3 hours sleep today).

Thanks for posting about BANS sites! I hear them talked about a lot but not many people offer up any details or stories of success or failure. Just hearing you say how you sait up 20 sites as subdomains and make around $20 a day offers valuable insight and gives some reasonable expectations to work with.

That’s very nice.
I tried to join Ebay before (trough their old CJ affiliate) and they rejected my application. Haven’t tried their new affiliate network.

Thanks for sharing, yet again! Lots of small income streams adds up to nice leverage income, and your risk is spread too. Lose one big client (or your job) and it is a crisis, but lose a few small ones, no problemo!

I have been wondering about BANS sites for awhile, thank you for an explanation on how to use them effectively. I am going to give them a whirl in my sub niches.

So are you saying that you make $600 a month with your bans site or was that just an example.
@daini - eBay has a new affiliate program that they admin themselves. I suggest you give it another shot.

BANS? My first time heard it..where can we get BANS script, do we need to purchase it?

@ Chuck
Yes I do. Even more than that. Hoverer EPN can be quite unpredictable in terms of revenue.
@ Halim-Belajar SEO
Yes. I like to it in my post. Have a look at first two links.

I love this method of using BANS!! I have heard about it, never used it personally, but I like your method. Not only do I like it for BANS, but for any niche with related subniches….
Setting up a main domain, then creating subdomains for the subniches is brilliant! Coming from you, an obvious SEO expert, I’m not worried about the SEO validity of this method.
Most will say get a domain for each site, but I will definitely explore the use of subdomains more, which will save me the $7 each time I want to start a new niche site.
Thanks!

JK Swopes, you are welcome! $7 might not seem like much but when you have 5000 websites that’s $35000/year just on domains.

Indeed sir! It’s all about using the leverage technology can provide, to build up the empire so to speak!
I can definitely see the benefits in this….and plan to use it in the future….

Actually how to picked up low competition niches?
That is the most confusing part for me.
Can you please a little bit more detail?

Are you getting any link results from scuttles or just regular bookmarking sites? My scuttle links do not show up. Also, could you expand on the other non bmd back links that you threw at it.

I’ve heard about BANS before but ebay won’t accept me.
So Bookmarkingdaemon is effective?
It’s pricy, too bad
August 6th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Yea, its not cheap but it works. I know people who have tons of accounts with EPN because they are cookie stuffing. I assume you can re-apply with different details.

Thanks for the great article. One question though. Are you talking about sub-niches when you are referring to your sub-domains? Or you just pick 20 random niches and place them all in sub-domains under a general domain such as -link removed, sorry-?

If the domain name for example is about fishing then you are better off sticking to fishing related niche and therefore use related sub-niches rather than adding other categories that have nothing to do with fishing.

Thanks for the great article.
I heard that phpbaypro (or something, I can’t really remember the name) can do better then BANS. It’s wordpress plugin so we can add more unique contents on it.
Do you have any experience with it or other ebay store script (if there)?
September 15th, 2008 at 12:30 am
I have had a play with a number of scripts similar to BANS and BANS was probably the best one. However that was a while back. I won’t be surprised if now there is something better out there.

Thanks for the reply sir.
Do you still use bookmarking demon now? Looks like a very good auto link builder tool. A bit pricy but if it’s still effective I think it will be a good investment.
September 16th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
I do indeed. If you are a blogger I can also point you to auto social poster plugin which automatically submits your posts to 20 or so bookmarking sites. I even used it here a few times. Works a treat!

Do your BANS sites still produce any profits? I heard Google hates BANS sites and start to push them lower on the serps. But removing footprints might helps.
