Sneaky link development with open source templates
Some of you might remember my previous post on link development with templates. This can be an excellent backlink development technique however most of us are not very good at designing and coding templates. Today somebody shared an interesting method with me which allows you to generate good amount of backlinks with little html knowledge.
The method involves downloading open source templates from website “A”, adding your link to the footer and then re-uploading the modified template to website “B”. There are thousands of various template sharing websites and galleries you can use. As always you can do this ethically and check the appropriate documentation to make sure the template is open source and you are allowed to modify and redistribute it or unethically. Apparently this method works really well even though I have not tested it myself.
PS: If you are not too sure how this will help you generate the backlinks please refer to my previous post linked above or drop a comment.

Good stuff ilia, I can see how the links could add up if you have a good template! Open source opens it up to more people as well…they just have to be good quality.

This is one of those things that’s so simple you hear it and go “why didn’t I think of that?”.

Very conveniant. But I wouldn’t use it though. I prefer going all the way myself.

Surely people would just delete my links though? Or am I missing something here?

Sometimes I regret not having design skills good enough for creating simple templates with decent graphics. I’d be the much better of SEO-wise by now.

God, I wish I knew how to design pages, then I would make use of your great tips
What do you think about making custom translations of open source packages?
