Yet another find that most people would turn into an Ebook and sell. Only here on Exposed seo I share this kind of information for free!
Are you ready for a flood of visitors and tons of backlinks?
The other day I was browsing Google news trying to find a good olympic flame story when I realised how hard it actually is to get your news picked and published. I have not seen a single blog, nor any reports by individuals. It looked like Google would only feed news from other news networks or established news agencies. How would I make sure my story gets published on Google news? Become a news reporter and get a job working for one of the huge news companies? This is impossible for an average person like me and you.
I carried on browsing through various seo news when I saw a little news flash:

Press release? This means I can register with that particular press release distribution agency and submit one myself. My press release will also appear on Google news. This is all good apart from the fact this seemed like a standard “proper”, corporate press release about a big company. How would I make sure my press release is even approved by PR company? Besides, what am I going to say? “Exposed seo makes another blog post on backlinks”? Such press release won’t even see the daylight. On top of that. It is just a bunch of text. Even if I get approved by PR company and make it into Google news, what would the readers do? “Oh great! A blog post! Now what?”
I carried on searching for a better PR company when I bumped into this killer site. That’s what I want to see! This is not a corporate press release for some International company. This is just an article any one can write. Not only that, you can add links to your article with proper anchor text. When articles like this one appear on Google news, readers can simply click on the links and end up on your website!
Do you know how many people read Google News? Do you know how many people have their homepages set to Google News? Do you know how many website syndicate the data that appears on Google News? We are talking about millions of hits here for a quality article. So what are you waiting for?
Google alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.
In other words every time Google indexes a new page that meets your criteria you will get an email alert. Don’t worry, you won’t get flooded with email. You get one a day or week containing all alerts depending on your preference.
So how is this useful? I like to monitor my own marketing or promotion results. Every time someone mentions my products or sites i get an alert. I can then analyse this information to see what others think about my products or sites. I can also get a rough idea of related trends. If lets say on Monday i get one alert, on Tuesday 35 and Wednesday 267 i know that the news about my product are spreading. You can also use Google alerts to keep an eye on your competition the same way.
I also look for blog entries on subjects that interest me. I set my alert type to “blogs” and every time there is a new entry on “seo” for example i can be the first person on the scene with a useful comment. Not only i stay up to date with the news, i get quality, related backlinks in form of comments.
Have you used Google alerts before? What do you use them for and how?
In case you have not heard already; DoubleClick, famous for its excellence at SEO has recently been acquired by Google. I don’t know what to say… It does not make any sense. Why would Google buy a marketing company. Especially one that does SEO. Do they need someone to seo websites on their own search engine? What if i was to pay DoubleClick (Google) to rank my blog above BMW for BMW? Would they reject me? Would they accept me and get a team of SEOers on the case or would Google simply put me above BMW with a click of the button? Obviously this is a purely hypothetical question.
Yet again the time has come for another page rank update. Everyone has been going crazy lately. At the moment it looks like not everyone can yet see the changes. There were quite a few solid reports however. Anyways, if you read my blog your probably know that im not actually that bothered with PR. What i did notice though is Dig pagerank. To be more precise its traffic.
Do you know any seasonal websites? Something related to Christmas possibly? These get seasonal traffic. Bucket loads during Christmas and tiny amounts throughout the rest of the year. This is understandable. Why would you do “x-mass” shopping in summer? (Even though it might be a good idea economically speaking). What i did not realise is that page rank updates would have a similar impact on related websites. Have a look at Dig PR’s Alexa!

The peaks are PR updates. Poor (Yeh, right) sods are probably running around in panic trying to deal with their server overload as we speak.

With wireless internet how quickly internet phone service has become an object of daily use, is not strange at all. Even webhosting services now offer options like shared web hosting and instant domain registration alongwith effective web hosting feaures. This has made search engine optimization very easy.

Page rank (PR) This is one of the subject i try to avoid. The last time we ended up having a 100 page debate on one of the webmaster forums. So how important is PR?
SERPs (Search engine result pages) are effected by SEO, mainly backlink development. PR is a result of your link building. So even though there is a relationship between PR and SERPs… It works the other way around. PR itself does not have any impact on your SERPs.
I guess the main argument is that some people, knowing that there is a relationship between PR and SERPs/Traffic believe that these positive changes are a direct result of higher PR.
A few facts about PR you might take into consideration.
PR Can be manipulated. You can have any PR you want by doing a bit of coding (Redirect)
Visual PR (PR you see on the toolbar) is updated a few times a year whereas the actual PR updates quite frequently. The PR you see on your toolbar is out of date.
PR is an indicator. Just like the thermometer you use to measure temperature. What if your room temperature is quite low. You want to turn the heater on and raise the temperature. If you go and rub your thermometer the room temperature will not change. It will just say its hotter. This is why you should not try to improve PR. You should get on with developing your website and PR will follow.
There is however one thing PR is good for. Link sales
I must have made a fortune selling links on dead sites with high PR by now. The PR crazy people paid for plenty of my holidays. Thank you PR and those who worship it!

Ideally one should get the cheapest domain name from a a cheap web hosting service. But the web hosting service should be reputable, not necessarily the best web hosting service. With wireless internet, creating online backup is not that hard anymore either. Marketing plans like affiliate marketing can be the next step.
